The bohemian beach town of Jericoacoara is
located in a vast coastal dune area in Northeast Brazil 290 km
from Fortaleza. It is like an island between the sea and the
sand dunes. It is the newest declared National Park
in Brazil and is only accessed by 4x4 vehicles due to the
shifting sands. All roads in the village are sand and dune
buggies are the primary mode of transportation. Jeri has a
unique mixture of stunning landscapes and unspoiled nature:
dunes, fresh-water lagoons, rocky cliffs, mangroves, desolate
beaches and more.
Jericoacoara has recently been discovered for
windsurfing and kitesurfing. It
is considered one of the top five places in the world to
sail because it blows every day for six months (July and
December) between 20 and 30 knots!
Horseback riding can be done throughout the National Park,
along the desolate beaches, in and out of the beautiful sand
dunes, and fresh water lakes. You can explore the small
local villages and experience nature like you have never seen
before!
The village of Jeri comes alive at dusk where everyone
climbs the large sand dune to watch the incredible
sunsets
and give thanks for another magical day. Following the
sunset, the people gather on the beach for Capoeira
(Brazilian martial art) and music.
Jericoacoara has an incredible diversity of
excellent restaurants: Brazilian, Italian, French
and more.
There is also a robust Brazilian nightlife
with live music and dancing.
